Sculpture by Thomas A. Tankersley

Although I create abstract art from time to time, I prefer detail and realism in my pieces. Keeping true to life in scale, while adding to the subject with my imagination. When making sculptures of people, I capture their character as well as bring out emotion which evolves as the piece progresses. I enjoy creating rustic looking pieces and utilize recylced materials in most of my sculptures. Pitted, weathered steel with a natural patina and texture is wonderful to work with. In the past my favorite style of art to create has been western work. Lately I've been transitioning into a new direction of wine themed art and religious works. I will continue making western art pieces along with rustic hand made funiture. Recently I developed a non-firing clay product, Fresco Sculpting Clay, and I use it to make some of my sculptures along with the steel.
